PERFORMANCE

Serious power and exceptional fuel economy[1]. Is this really a people mover?

2013 Honda Odyssey Engine

Power & Efficiency

All models feature a 3.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC i-VTEC® V-6 engine with 248 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Its Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) allows for exceptional power and fuel economy[1] while meeting CARB's ULEV-2 emissions rating[2]. A 6-speed automatic transmission (Touring models) helps the Odyssey achieve its impressive fuel economy[1], while maintaining excellent performance for a van.

Top of the Class

28 mpg[1] is an extraordinarily high number for an 8-passenger van. To accomplish this high level of efficiency[1], the engineers needed more than just an efficient engine and transmission. Low-rolling resistance tires, a variable-displacement power-steering pump, and low-drag wheel bearings as well as an aerodynamic body all help keep the gas-station stops few and far between.

SAFETY

The Odyssey comes equipped with sophisticated technology that can help you avoid accidents and help protect occupants with an amazing array of safety features.

2013 Honda Odyssey 5 star safety reating more stars safer cars

5-Star Safety

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) toughened up its crash-safety tests for 2011, and the Odyssey passed with flying colors. In fact, the Odyssey earned 5 stars in each seating position of all three crash-safety tests, as well as earning a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score[1].

Active Safety Features

Standard active safety features include the anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), which helps the driver retain steering control when braking hard, and Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)[2] with traction control, which helps to detect and correct oversteer and understeer.

Active front head restraints help reduce the likelihood of whiplash injuries in the event of a rear impact. The head restraints are designed to tilt forward in a fraction of a second to decrease the space between the back of the occupant's head and the head restraint.

To help you avoid accidents in the first place, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)[3] uses a warning icon that will illuminate within the gauge cluster, notifying the driver that significantly low pressure has been detected in one or more of the tires. Also, the Odyssey features up to five Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) seating positions, making the Odyssey an excellent baby mover.

2013 Honda Odyssey Frame

Peace of Mind

If the unthinkable happens, the Odyssey helps protect its passengers with the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, which is designed to absorb impacts of vehicles of various sizes in the event of front-end collisions. Front 3-point seat belts with automatic tensioning system, and front side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) all help to protect you and your passengers in sufficient impacts.

2013 Honda Odyssey with the environment

Honda's Safety Philosophy

Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for the occupants of other vehicles, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road. Learn more.

[1] Based on frontal crash- and side crash-safety ratings and Overall Vehicle Score in the NHTSA NCAP testing. Government 5-Star Safety Ratings are part of NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program (www.SaferCar.gov). Model tested with standard side airbags (SABs). Vehicles tested under the new program cannot be compared to MY10 and earlier vehicles.

[2] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle's course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.

SAFETY FEATURES

2013 Honda Odyssey Frame

Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) Body Structure

The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure is a Honda-exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions. The ACE design utilizes a network of connected structural elements and high-strength steel to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment and can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles in a crash.

2013 Honda Odyssey Disc Brake

Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) uses a special modulator to pulse the brakes to help prevent wheel lockup. This helps the driver retain steering control during hard braking. The Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system balances the front/rear braking forces during dynamic loading.

2013 Honda Odyssey Daytime running lights

Daytime Running Lights (DRL)

The Odyssey enhances its visibility to other drivers by incorporating Daytime Running Lights (DRL) up front.

2013 Honda Odyssey Active Head Rest

Driver's and Front Passenger's Active Head Restraints

In a sufficient rear-end impact, the active head restraints move forward and up, helping reduce the likelihood of neck injury.

2013 Honda Odyssey Airbags

Dual-Stage, Multiple-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)

The vehicle is equipped with dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS). One or both of these airbags will be deployed only in the event of a sufficient frontal impact. If deployed, these airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates depending on crash severity, seat-belt usage and/or other factors. Frontal airbags are designed to supplement the seat belts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in frontal collisions.

Airbags inflated for display purposes.

Honda reminds you and your passengers to always buckle up. Children 12 and under are safest when properly restrained in the rear seat.

2013 Honda Odyssey Rims

Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD)

Part of the braking system, EBD is a more exacting method of ensuring that proportionate braking forces are applied to the brakes. In order to avoid needless ABS cycling during a non-emergency stop, EBD uses the ABS sensors to detect impending rear-wheel lockup. Then it signals an additional ABS solenoid to reduce braking force to the rear and add more to the front.

2013 Honda Odyssey Front Seats

Front 3-Point Seat Belts with Automatic Tensioning System

Front 3-point seat belts with automatic tensioners ride across the lap and chest to help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact.

2013 Honda Odyssey Occupant Position Detection System

Front Side Airbags with Passenger-Side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)

In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the side airbag inflates to help protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body. The Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant. If a child or small-statured adult is leaning into the deployment path of the side airbag, sensors deactivate it.

Honda reminds you and your passengers to always buckle up. Children 12 and under are safest when properly restrained in the rear seat.

2013 Honda Odyssey Child Seat Mount

Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH): Lower Anchors (2nd-Row All, 3rd-Row Outboard), Tether Anchors (2nd-Row All, 3rd-Row All)

Odyssey models are available with up to five Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH): three in the second-row seating positions (EX and above) and two in the outboard third-row seat positions. The LATCH system provides two lower anchors and an upper tether anchor. When used with a compatible child seat, the LATCH system provides attachment points between the child seat and the vehicle seat.

2013 Honda Odyssey Side Curtain Airbags

Three-Row Side Curtain Airbags with Rollover Sensor

The side curtain airbag module is positioned along the side of the headliner. In the event of a sufficient side impact or rollover, this system will activate to help provide protection for front and outboard rear occupants.

Airbags inflated for display purposes.

2013 Honda Odyssey Instrument Panel

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

This system monitors the pressure in all four tires, and alerts the driver when pressure loss in any tire becomes significantly low[1].

[1] For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

2013 Honda Odyssey Vehicle Stability Assist

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control

Working with ABS and the Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control[1] enhances stability by detecting oversteer or understeer, and by then braking individual wheels and/or reducing throttle to help restore the driver's intended path of travel.

[1] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle's course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.

Seating

Life presents many challenges. The Odyssey interior has all the versatility to solve them.

2013 Honda Odyssey Front Seats

Innumerable Possibilities

With many possible seating configurations, the Odyssey could have the most customizable, usable interior space on the road, and the One-Motion 60/40 Split 3rd-Row Magic Seat® makes this possible. With ease, the third row can be tucked away completely or partially to accommodate varying combinations of cargo and people. Whether carrying a stack of 4'x8' sheets of plywood, up to 5 toddlers safely secured with LATCH seating positions (EX and above), or as many as 8 adults (EX and above) ready to party, the Odyssey will keep you amazed at its versatility.

Passenger Pampering 101

The second row is plenty flexible, too, with a multi-function 2nd-row center seat (EX and above) for more comfort, thanks to a wide seat cushion. The center seat slides forward 5.5 inches and also contains LATCH anchor mounts for a child seat, allowing for the child to be closer to the front-row occupants for better accessibility. The second row’s flexibility gets a further boost with a seating position called "wide mode," in which the outboard seats can slide 1.5 inches to each side. The center seat can also slide 1.5 inches to each side.

SEATING FEATURES

The second row also has added flexibility with a seating position called "wide mode," in which the outboard seats can slide 1.5 inches to each side. The armrests feature a soft-touch material, and the walk-in feature allows easy movement throughout the spacious cabin for the passengers.

2013 Honda Odyssey Center Row of Seats

Multi-Function 2nd-Row Center Seat

The Odyssey features a multi-function 2nd-row center seat (EX and above) for comfortable seating, thanks to a wide seat cushion. The seatback folds down and has three beverage holders and a tray for small items. The sides feature soft-touch material for use as an armrest. The center seat slides forward 5.5 inches and also contains LATCH anchor mounts for a child seat, allowing the child to be closer to the front-row occupants for better accessibility.

2013 Honda Odyssey Folding Rear Seats

One-Motion 60/40 Split 3rd-Row Magic Seat®

Already known as the industry standard for third-row van seating, the One-Motion 3rd-Row Magic Seat® creates room for various combinations of people and cargo. The Touring models have a soft-touch rear armrest area for added comfort. The center of the 60/40 split rear seatback also features an armrest, while the rear side glass features integrated sunshades (Touring models). For ease of use, the strap to operate the seat stowage only needs a slight pull and the seat literally stows itself. The storage well is yet another area to store cargo[1].

[1] Carrying too much cargo or improperly storing it can affect the handling, stability and operation of this vehicle. Before carrying any cargo, be sure to consult the owner's manual for load limits and loading guidelines.

Courtesy of the USB Audio Interface[3] and Song By Voice® (SBV) feature, simple voice commands can access music selections from the integrated hard disk drive (HDD) or iPod®[4] by artist, playlist, genre, composer, track or album.

No matter how much fun is had in the Odyssey, cleanliness is easily maintained with the Flip-Up Trash-Bag Ring (EX and above).
